From the start of her career in 2002, she has worked with banks, engineering corporations, and petroleum companies. Currently, Edesiri Onatejiroghene Ibru serves as a corporate finance analyst with Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited.

Jointly owned by a group of Nigerian investors and the Delta State government, Midwestern Oil and Gas Company Limited was established in 1991 and started operations in 2001. The company's mission is to explore and produce oil and other hydrocarbons in both environmentally and economically effective ways. By doing so, the company will be able to achieve its vision of being an important independent producer of oil and other hydrocarbon products in Africa.

Establishing and maintaining a harmonious relationship between the company and the local people also is integral to the Midwestern Oil and Gas Company. To accomplish this goal, the company has adopted various corporate social-responsibility initiatives to ensure a better quality of life for the local community, both socially and economically. These include providing scholarships, building schools, constructing health care centers, and creating drainage systems.
